I’m going to apologise in advance for the length of this post. I started picking photos from the lovely Jen & Hamish’s wedding and just couldn’t stop. I know this is going to sound cliche, but there was seriously a lot of love in this little corner of the world for their wedding. Even in spite of some hiccups with orders, Jen was the calmest bride and Hamish was the calmest groom I have ever seen.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, they are the sweetest couple and thank you both for letting me be a part of your day.

I’ve been a horrible blogger and I promise I’ll try to be better. Sickness and a lot of work have meant I was either sleeping or trying to work (emphasis on the trying). But I have a little sneak peak of the lovely Jen & Hamish, who had the sweetest wedding surrounded by so much love. I’m so glad to have been a part of that and to have been able to capture it for them. Thank you both.

A Light Filled Adventure // Joanna & Victor

It’s crazy how quickly the week passes you by. I really wanted to upload this wedding last week, but things kept coming up and I’ll do it tomorrow, I’ll do it tomorrow somehow turned into a week later. The days are long, but the weeks are short really seems to be applying to the beginnings of 2010. But I’m very glad to have gotten a moment to upload the wedding of Joanna & Victor.

Arriving from the Netherlands the week of their wedding it certainly was quite the whirlwind that was capped off on Friday last week when I dropped the images off to Joanna & Victor the night before they headed out on their cruise. I can tell you that it was kind of a crazy night with lots of mojitos and weird and wonderful conversation. I only wish that I had caught a cab over to their hotel, so I could have properly enjoyed in the festivities.

A Portrait of Joanna

It’s funny how things happen sometimes. A friend of a friend, Bart, called me in mid December about photographing a wedding for his cousin in two weeks. They were flying in from Holland for the wedding and he was organising it all. I met with the bride and groom along with the rest of the family a few days before the wedding, and I have to say that they were so lovely and welcoming that I really couldn’t wait to photograph it. It felt like I was photographing a family members wedding and not someone I had just met three days prior to the wedding. The day was rather overcast and I had multiple contingency plans running through my head depending on what time of the day it started to rain. We were rather lucky that it stayed dry for the entire day and most of the night. It was really a pleasure to photograph Joanna & Victor’s wedding. I’m still working on it, but I just had to share these two portraits of the beautiful Joanna.

Thank you both for letting me be a part of your day and a big thank you has to go out to Bart for organising it all.

A brand new day, a brand new year, a brand new decade

We are at the beginning of the second decade in the 21st Century. I’m honestly not quite sure what to call it though. I’ve heard quite a few reporters refer to it as the “Teens,” which sounds rather trite to me. However, the second decade of the 21st Century does sound rather official. I’m sure we’ll figure out something to call it that doesn’t sound quite so silly. I mean, we have 10 whole years to think of a better name.

I should take the time to welcome you to the new I Love Wednesdays. It’s going through a bit of a revamp (the umpteenth one in it’s relatively young existence). I sometimes think that as designers we’re unfortunately afflicted with an inability to let our designs go, especially when they’re for ourselves, and I don’t think that I’m any different. But I Love Wednesdays, for me, is an evolutionary process, and I hope you’ll bear with me as I make the final adjustments for the new year. If you want to check out my old blog, you can still check it out here I can’t bring myself to take it down.

While I’m extremely excited about the year ahead, I took a little time to reflect on the year that was. It was certainly a much bigger year than I thought it would be, and I got to photograph some incredibly people, fashion and events.
