I try to photograph people’s spirits and thought. As to the soul-taking by the photographer, I don’t feel I take it away, but rather that the sitting and I give to each other. If becomes an act of mutual participation. - Yousuf Karsh
This quote always comes to mind when I think of what I love about photography. I do think it’s more than just people giving and taking from each other, places and spaces can give you a sense of who and what they are. I’ve gone to Melbourne quite a few times this year, partly for business and partly because I just love Melbourne, and every time I’ve photographed a little corner, I feel as if it’s unfurling in front of me, revealing another side of itself and in turn revealing another side of me.
I fall in love whenever I’m in a new city, and I feel like I leave behind a little piece of my heart every time I leave. Melbourne definitely has a pretty sizable chunk of it. xx

So, I woke up this morning to seeing Gem & Dunc’s e-session on Style Me Pretty, and what an awesome way to start a day. A big thank you to Gem & Dunc for being awesome and to Style Me Pretty for featuring it. (To see the full post, just click on the image). xx

It’s funny the things that you remember about people.I remember meeting Gem and Dunc in March and just thinking they were the sweetest people I’d ever met. I love when I can see how two people so thoroughly compliment each other. It’s kind of like there’s a neon sign with a massive love heart and an arrow pointing to each of them when they’re together.
During their shoot, it became even more obvious that my thoughts from our first meeting were pretty darn spot on. The way Gem and Dunc held hands, snuck kisses when they thought I wasn’t looking and most glaringly obvious how they looked at each other. There’s no posing in the world that can substitute for that kind of love.
