THE CREATIVE ACT
The creative act lasts but a brief moment, a lightning instant of give-and-take, just long enough for you to level the camera and to trap the fleeting prey in your little box. – Henri Cartier-Bresson
I think these really are the perfect words to describe what we photographers do. In a sense we hunt out the perfect photo. I know that I wait for it, obsess about it, plan for it, but at the end of the day, it usually comes down to a second. A second here or there; and you end up with the perfect selection of photos or ones which are just ok.
In a race, a second, or even a fraction of a second, really is the difference between coming first and last.
Photography is the same.
I always want to come first.
I like your way of thinking, the creative process can be a struggle sometimes and planning has got to help.
I would say that it is a matter of seconds – but who is to say that one second is better then the rest. Yes Cartier nailed many amazing moments, but maybe he missed the really great ones that happen right after the kiss. I think the challenge to creativity is making the most of your seconds.

Great photo. Intense eyes. Well captured expression
Gorgeous! The vibrancy of the colors and her expression make for a fantastic image.
That is stunning. Seriously. I’m a little in love with this shot.
Great picture and This eyes …
Sometimes I do like to ‘craft’ the picture, get from a concept in my head to a print in my hand – and I feel like the whole journey in between is a creative. But that’s really just for my personal work. For everything else, this fits.
Beautiful shot too.
Beautiful shot! Love it!
this shot reminds me a lot of that image from the cover of National Geographic. Those eyes are so deep. This shot is great!!

This is great! It looks like an ad in a magazine. She’s beautiful. I really like your clean processing.
And you do come first. You do a great job of capturing pure moments.
I love it! I love that even with all the wonderful color, it’s her beautiful eyes that you notice first!
